COP29 countdown: Baku establishes nine information hubs for attendees PHOTO
Starting in November, Baku will establish nine information centres for participants of the upcoming COP29 climate conference, said head of visitor services at the COP29 Azerbaijan Operational Company Ilkin Javadov.
Seven of these centres will be located within the city, while two will be situated at the airports, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Speaking to reporters about the initiative Javadov emphasised that hosting COP29 at the highest level and ensuring the comfort of guests is a primary mission.
“To facilitate this, directional signs and information boards will be installed. Additionally, special temporary signage will be placed on transport vehicles designated for guests and participants. Information boards will also be set up at the airport and the Koroglu metro station, helping visitors quickly locate the event venues,” he explained.
Javadov further noted that a digital map has been created to assist attendees in navigating the areas surrounding the event. “Visitors will be able to find any point of interest on the map,” he added.
Moreover, starting in November, a dedicated COP29 call centre will be operational. Javadov confirmed that the centre aims to inform citizens and guests of the capital about matters related to the climate conference.
“Participants and guests will be able to get answers to their queries via phone calls, as well as through WhatsApp and Telegram,” he stated, underscoring the commitment to providing comprehensive support for all attendees.
Notably, the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan from 11 to 22 November. Baku is set to host between 70,000 and 80,000 international attendees over the course of the two-week event.
