Deadly shooting in Nantes leaves teen dead, boy critically hurt
A 15-year-old teenager was killed, and two other minors were injured in a shooting in the French city of Nantes, authorities said, in an incident that investigators believe may be linked to drug-related violence.
The shooting took place on Thursday, May 14, at around 8:00 p.m. in the Port-Boyer district. According to investigators, cited by French media, the 15-year-old victim died at the scene, while two other minors were transported to the hospital.
Nantes prosecutor Antoine Leroy said a 13-year-old boy remains in extremely critical condition, with his “prognosis is very unfavourable.” A 14-year-old was also wounded and hospitalised, though his life is not in danger.
Preliminary findings suggest the attack may have been connected to a “settling of scores related to violations of drug laws.” The assailants fled the scene on a two-wheeled vehicle, and an investigation is ongoing.
The incident adds to a pattern of violence in the area. At the end of April, a similar shooting in the same district left one person dead and others seriously injured, in a case also believed to be linked to drug activity.
