Denmark summons Russian ambassador over drone incident in Poland
The Danish Foreign Ministry has summoned Russia’s ambassador to the kingdom, Vladimir Barbin, following a reported breach of Polish airspace by Russian drones, the Russian embassy in Copenhagen said on its Telegram channel.
“On September 15, the Russian Ambassador to Denmark, Vladimir Barbin, was summoned to the Danish Foreign Ministry regarding the alleged deliberate violation of Polish airspace by Russian UAVs,” the statement noted, per Caliber.Az.
According to the embassy, Barbin emphasised to Danish State Secretary for Foreign Policy Lotte Machon that Russia’s Ministry of Defence is ready to hold consultations with Poland’s Ministry of Defence on this matter.
He also clarified that no targets on Polish territory were planned. The maximum range of the drones involved in strikes against Ukrainian defence industry facilities, which reportedly crossed into Poland, does not exceed 700 kilometres.
As a reminder, on September 9, 2025, around 19–23 Russian drones, primarily low-cost Shahed-type kamikaze drones, entered Polish airspace from the east, near the Ukrainian border. These drones were part of a broader Russian strike involving over 100 drones and missiles targeting western and central Ukraine, including defence facilities in regions like Zhytomyr and Lviv.
Debris and wrecks were recovered in multiple locations across Poland, including eastern villages like Wyryki-Wola, Wohyń, and Czosnówka; southeastern areas like Czyżów; central sites near Mniszków and Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą; and even northern Oleśno. By September 12, 2025, 17 drone wrecks had been identified, with Polish presidential advisor Marcin Przydacz confirming 21 total incursions.
