Dozens injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Sumy region
Dozens of civilians have been injured in Russia’s overnight attacks on Ukraine’s Sumy region, with the number of casualties rising following a series of strikes across multiple communities.
According to the information released by the Sumy Regional Military Administration, civilians were wounded in several areas over a 24-hour period marked by sustained shelling and drone attacks.
In the Putyvl community, four women aged 36, 43, 48 and 58 were injured in a drone strike. In the Mykolaiv rural community, a 76-year-old man was wounded in a separate UAV attack.
The heaviest casualties were reported in the Sumy community, where 15 people were injured. Among them were three girls aged 13, 15 and 17, as well as 12 adults — men aged 75, 72, 54 and 52, and women aged 79, 79, 79, 76, 53, 45, 35 and 25.
In the Hlukhiv community, a 19-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man were also injured as a result of a drone strike.
Authorities said that between the morning of April 20 and the morning of April 21, Russian forces carried out more than 90 attacks targeting 30 settlements across 16 territorial communities in the region.
Local officials also reported damage to civilian infrastructure.
