EU maintains diplomatic presence in Kyiv despite Russian evacuation call
The European Union will not reduce its diplomatic presence in Kyiv after Russia urged foreign missions to evacuate staff by May 9, European Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni has stated.
During a briefing, he said the EU will not change its “posture or presence” in Kyiv, Caliber.Az reports.
Anouni noted that Russian attacks, unfortunately, are “a daily reality in Kyiv and elsewhere in Ukraine.”
The European Commission representative accused Russia of attempting to shift responsibility onto Ukraine for its own actions, describing Moscow’s approach as part of a “reckless escalatory tactics.”
Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Ministry reportedly sent a note to foreign countries urging them to evacuate their diplomatic staff from Kyiv.
