Euronews: Urban projects drive global planning debate ahead of WUF13 VIDEO
Urban development projects are serving as testbeds for new city planning approaches, according to an Euronews report on sustainable urban development and post-conflict reconstruction, as preparations continue for the 13th World Urban Forum.
Authorities and urban planners are increasingly focusing on mixed-use developments, green planning strategies and integrated infrastructure systems designed to support everyday life, while also improving resilience to environmental and economic pressures.
Large-scale reconstruction initiatives and newly planned urban areas are also being used to examine models for post-conflict recovery, with an emphasis on long-term sustainability and functional urban design.
Officials say collaboration between domestic institutions and international partners remains central to advancing these projects. They add that lessons drawn from ongoing initiatives are expected to feed into broader global discussions on how cities can adapt to rising populations and evolving social, economic and environmental challenges.
With urbanisation continuing to accelerate worldwide, policymakers and experts are expected to use the forum to exchange experiences and evaluate practical approaches to future city development.
