Eurovision Song Contest organizers announce voting results on Azerbaijan’s behalf And hamper to give 12 points to Ukraine
The Azerbaijani Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company has regretted about the incident during the final stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and the decisions made following it.
“We sent the list of the countries, for which the Azerbaijani jury voted, to the contest organisers. According to this list, 12 points were given to Ukraine. In response, the contest organisers urged the company’s representatives to announce other results at the end of the final show, without giving any reasons. We refused to do this,” Caliber.Az reports referring to the statement of the company.
An official letter with a request was immediately sent to the organisers. We said that we will publish live the votes of our jury rather than the results obtained from the contest organisers, and we will also make this issue public. Afterward, we were informed about some strange situation related to the votes of 6 countries, including Azerbaijan, during the semi-final stage on May 12.
We were not provided with any information from May 12 to 14 until the end of the final.
Despite the representative of the company was fully ready to announce the voting results of the jury in Azerbaijan, the contest organisers did not get in touch with Baku and announced their results on Azerbaijan’s behalf. The contest organisers explained that this occurred due to technical problems, although we did not have any technical problems.
We emphasize once again that we did not entitle the contest organisers to announce the voting results on behalf of the company.
We are waiting for an official answer to this question and, depending on it, we plan to take the following steps. We hope that this problem will be resolved fairly soon.
