Fake news from Yerevan Armenia distorts reality once again
Today, June 20, the Armenian Ministry of Defence issued a statement claiming that between 08:00 and 09:00, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces allegedly opened fire in the direction of the village of Nerkin Hand, located in Armenia’s Syunik province (Zangezur – ed.).
According to the Armenian side, a residential house was damaged as a result of the shelling.
However, as reliable sources informed Caliber.Az, this statement does not reflect reality. Azerbaijani army units did not open fire in the mentioned direction, and the claims disseminated by the Armenian side are fabricated and do not correspond to the facts.
The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan strictly adhere to the principle of non-aggression against civilian infrastructure and have never posed, nor do they pose, any threat to the civilian population. Our sources emphasised that such accusations from Yerevan aim to mislead both the Armenian public and the international community.
Recently, such disinformation efforts by Armenian military structures have become systematic. This suggests the existence of a deliberate information strategy aimed at creating the illusion of tension along the conditional border. The objective is clear — to mislead external observers and present Armenia as a victim, despite the absence of any real grounds for such claims.
At a time when the region urgently needs stability and progress toward lasting peace, such statements only undermine trust and demonstrate that the Armenian side continues to resort to informational (and other) provocations instead of adopting a constructive approach.
