Fidel Castro’s grandson says Cuba will withstand US pressure
Cuba has withstood pressure from the United States for decades and will be able to withstand it today as well, Fidel Antonio Castro-Smirnov, grandson of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, academician of the Cuban Academy of Sciences and a professor at the University of Havana, has said.
Speaking to TASS, he noted that isolating a state becomes significantly more difficult when it has reliable partners, alternative markets, financial mechanisms, scientific ties and its own technological capabilities, Caliber.Az reports.
“Cuba has maintained international relations and developed cooperation with partners for decades despite external pressure and will withstand pressure from the United States today as well,” Castro-Smirnov stressed while announcing the Second World Public Assembly.
The forum will be held in Moscow on September 18-19 under the theme A New World: Values That Unite.
According to Castro-Smirnov, Cuba’s experience has shown “how important international solidarity, diversification of ties and the ability of states to support one another are for successful sovereign development.”
