Five Chinese tourists killed in minibus crash in Bali
At least five Chinese tourists were killed and eight others sustained minor injuries on November 14 when their rental minibus plunged into a shallow ravine on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, according to local authorities.
The group of thirteen Chinese nationals had been traveling from Denpasar toward the northern region of Buleleng when the accident occurred, local police chief Widwan Sutadi told Reuters.
"As the driver was unable to control the vehicle, he swerved it to the left to crash into a tree and try to avoid a collision [with another car]. But the minibus was thrown off and plunged into the shallow ravine," he said.
Emergency responders transported all victims to the nearest hospital, where five passengers were pronounced dead. The driver, who survived, was among the injured.
Indonesian authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
