Poland issues mobilization cards to reservists, civilians

Military recruitment centres in Poland have begun distributing mobilization cards to citizens, primarily to members of the reserve forces.

The documents may also be issued to civilians whose professional expertise could be required to support the Polish Armed Forces in the event of war, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

Mobilization cards are issued during peacetime and specify the military unit and location where the recipient would be required to report if mobilization were declared or hostilities broke out.

Poland’s Central Military Recruitment Centre has stressed that the distribution of the cards is part of a standard annual procedure. Their issuance therefore does not, by itself, indicate that Poland has declared or is preparing to declare mobilization.

In addition to reservists, the cards may be assigned to specialists whose skills could be needed during wartime, including doctors, IT professionals and logistics specialists.

Some civilians may also receive mobilization cards if they are expected to perform wartime duties in sectors such as energy, transportation, communications and administration. Similar arrangements apply to personnel working in law enforcement.

The Polish military says the system is designed to determine in advance where individuals would serve and what responsibilities they would undertake, allowing authorities to respond more quickly in the event of a crisis rather than organizing assignments from scratch.
