FM: Upcoming period will show whether Armenia has learnt from its past mistakes
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov granted an interview to Report news agency on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
"The coming period will show whether Armenia has learnt lessons from its past mistakes or not," he said.
"As for the process of normalisation of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, I can say that despite Armenia's unconstructive steps, the Azerbaijani state is committed to the peace agenda, the steps taken by Azerbaijan, unlike Armenia's steps, are consistent, systematic, logical, and based on the norms and principles of international law.
If Armenia stops its smear campaign against Azerbaijan, directly or indirectly questioning the territorial integrity of our country, and abandons other harmful approaches, I think that in principle it is possible to reach a peace agreement within a reasonable and short period of time. However, I would like to emphasise once again that the approach of not one but both sides is very important in this issue, i.e. the approach of the Armenian side to the peace process is also important," the minister stressed.
