Football hooligan group leader arrested with £2 million-worth of drugs
Police in Warsaw have arrested a man described as the leader of a football hooligan group after seizing drugs with an estimated black-market value of around 10 million złoty (£2m).
Officers recovered nearly 150 kilograms of narcotics during a raid in the Bemowo district of the Polish capital, authorities said, Caliber.Az reports per Polish media.
The 36-year-old suspect and his 42-year-old associate were detained while loading a large quantity of drugs into a vehicle. Police said the younger man attempted to flee and assaulted officers, but was quickly restrained.
A search of a flat used as a drug storage site uncovered what investigators described as substantial quantities of illegal substances, including around 130 kilograms of cannabis, 6 kilograms of cocaine, 3,000 ecstasy tablets, and additional controlled substances.
Investigators also found chemicals and equipment believed to have been used in the production of narcotics, as well as five firearms and ammunition.
Both men were taken into custody and brought before prosecutors in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, where they were charged with large-scale drug trafficking offences.
A court has ordered their detention on remand for three months while the investigation continues.
