Foreign diplomats hail Azerbaijani president's speech at NAM meeting
Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union Taieb Baccouche has said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's speech at the ministerial meeting was very constructive.
He made the remarks at the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azertaj reports.
Baccouche noted that the event takes place at a very turbulent time for the world, stressing that such events will further strengthen cooperation and integration among countries and prepare them to respond to the challenges facing the world.
"The Azerbaijani president spoke about the colonial policy of the two countries and its bitter consequences. He urged these countries to recognise the wrongness of their actions, and this is commendable," Baccouche emphasised.
Similarly, Burkina Faso delegation member Michel Soma noted that the Non-Aligned Movement has made great progress since the beginning of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the movement.
“We have a positive opinion of Azerbaijan,” he added.
He noted that despite the fact that Azerbaijan was chairing the Non-Aligned Movement in a difficult period, the country has fulfilled its task with dignity.
"Successful leadership of such an important structure at a time when COVID-19 caused a global crisis is commendable. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in his speech at today's event touched on many issues, including the Bandung Principles, spoke about the negative consequences of colonialism, and drew attention to the importance of reforms in the UN. Azerbaijan organised a high-level ministerial meeting," Soma said.
