Azerbaijani, Georgian military police explore joint operations, regional security PHOTO
A high-level delegation from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, led by Major General Elgun Aliyev, Chief of the Military Police Department, has undertaken an official visit to Georgia to bolster military cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
Major General Aliyev met with his Georgian counterpart, Major General Shalva Shengelia, who heads the Military Police Department of the Georgian Ministry of Defence, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence told Caliber.Az.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in a detailed exchange of views on potential areas of collaboration, with particular emphasis on joint military exercises and other mutually beneficial initiatives. Discussions also included the strategic alignment of military police functions in regional security frameworks.
The Azerbaijani delegation received an extensive briefing outlining the operational structure and key responsibilities of the Georgian Military Police. The session was followed by a display of the Georgian unit’s weapons systems and military equipment, offering a comprehensive overview of their capabilities.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani officials also observed live firing drills conducted by Georgian forces—demonstrating tactical precision and showcasing the practical application of training and discipline within the Georgian Military Police ranks.
