Germany announces multi-billion-euro support package for Ukraine
Germany's contribution to the two-year support package for Ukraine agreed at the NATO summit in Ankara will amount to approximately €23 billion, allocated in the federal budgets for 2026 and 2027 for military assistance to Kyiv.
The German government confirmed the figure in comments to Ukrinform in response to questions regarding Berlin's share of the overall support package for Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
"In this year and next year alone, a total of around €23 billion has been earmarked in the budget for the capability-building initiative aimed at providing military support to Ukraine. These funds will therefore constitute Germany's contribution to the support package approved at the NATO summit," the government's press service said.
Berlin also noted that since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Germany has provided or earmarked approximately €55.5 billion in military assistance to Ukraine for current and future years, in addition to €41 billion in civilian support.
