Germany urges chancellor to clarify position on Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz must say what he wants to achieve by his policy on Ukraine.
Deputy editor-in-chief of the German newspaper Paul Ronzheimer said that some of the chancellor's decisions, including blocking the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Kyiv, contradict the position of the German government, Bild reports.
“German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock wants the EU to expand from Lisbon to Luhansk in the future, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said clearly that Ukraine must win the conflict. If this is the government's goal, it will have to supply more weapons. If Scholz does not believe in victory, he needs to finally say what goal he is pursuing,” the statement says.
Ronzheimer noted that the German chancellor is obliged to clarify his goals not only to the German people but also to Ukraine.
