French president to meet Ukrainian counterpart following Trump-Putin summit
French President Emmanuel Macron is set to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the high-stakes summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Élysée Palace confirmed.
In a statement to the press, the French presidential office said the meeting between Macron and Zelenskyy would be held “at a convenient time,” although it did not specify an exact date or location, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The Élysée underscored that communication between the two leaders remains “close and constant,” reaffirming France’s commitment to maintaining strong diplomatic engagement with Ukraine amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
The announcement comes as Trump and Putin prepare to convene later today in Anchorage, Alaska, for their first in-person talks since Trump’s return to the White House. The summit is widely viewed as a critical moment for discussions on the future of the war in Ukraine, arms control, and broader security architecture in Europe.
President Macron’s upcoming meeting with Zelenskyy is expected to focus on the outcomes of the Anchorage talks, the implications for Ukraine’s security, and the prospects for renewed diplomatic momentum in ending the ongoing conflict.
