Hamas urge international community to hold conference, address rebuilding of Gaza
Hamas-run authorities of the Gaza Strip have called for an international conference to address the issue of rebuilding the enclave in the aftermath of the 15 months-long military conflict with Israel.
The press service of the Gaza authorities have published a statement via their Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media, in which they "demand the convening of an international conference on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the immediate initiation of efforts to meet all the humanitarian needs of our people."
The press service described the current humanitarian situation in Gaza as catastrophic and went on to put the sole blame on Israel, accusing it of deliberately obstructing the delivery of essential aid to the enclave.
As Caliber.Az recalls, Israeli forces have been restricting the influx of goods into Gaza since the outbreak of hostilities, citing Hamas' militants practice of directing humanitarian goods, including construction materials, to their own camps to be used for combat purposes. Since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement on January 19, the influx of aid trucks into the Gaza Strip has increased under the supervision of international organizations.
