Iran accuses US of "flagrant violation"of ceasefire amid maritime tensions Official Statement
Iran's Foreign Ministry has accused the United States of a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement, amid renewed tensions involving maritime activity in the region.
According to a statement from the ministry’s press office, Iranian officials allege that US forces have continued what they describe as “illegal and unjustified actions” since the ceasefire was declared on April 8, 2026, Caliber.Az reports.

“The US terrorist army, having continued its illegal and unjustified actions since the ceasefire was declared on April 8, 2026, in particular by carrying out numerous acts of maritime piracy against Iranian merchant vessels, has committed a gross violation of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan province region over the past 48 hours.
The commission of these aggressive acts, coinciding with the ongoing diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan, has once again clearly demonstrated to the Iranian nation, the peoples of the region and the international community the malicious intent and treachery of the US ruling circles. This has shown that the principled approach of the Iranian people in all three arenas – on the battlefield, in the streets and in diplomacy – is based on a deep distrust of the American regime, underpinned by logic and a profound understanding of its vindictive and criminal nature towards the people of Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns these aggressive actions, which constitute a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4, of the Charter of the United Nations, as well as the ceasefire agreement, and holds the US regime fully responsible for any consequences of these aggressive acts.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will undoubtedly leave no atrocity unanswered and will not allow the slightest hesitation in defending the very foundations of Iran’s existence,” the statement reads.
