Iran-Belarus top generals call for expanding military ties
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Maj Gen Mohammad Bagheri and Belarusian Defence Minister Gen Viktor Khrenin in a meeting in Tehran called for expanding defence cooperation.
Maj Gen Mohammad Bagheri and Gen Viktor Khrenin discussed the state and prospects of cooperation in training and deploying armed forces, IRNA reports.
They also sketched out further steps aimed at deepening and intensifying bilateral interaction.
The Iranian Armed Force chief of staff in the meeting emphasised the continuation and increase of defence cooperation between the two countries.
He said that as in the past, there was defence and security cooperation between the two countries, today also due to the changes in the global power structure, these relations should be expanded, because the global power structure is rapidly changing from a unipolar state to a multipolar world.
Gen Bagheri emphasised the importance of the exchange of defence experiences and voiced readiness to hold exercises and military cooperation in the field of education and science at the level of the armed forces of Iran and Belarus.
Belarus' Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin arrived in Iran on July 31 on an official visit.
