Turkish FM: Israel expanding Gaza war to Lebanon

Türkiye's authorities have said that Israel is seeking to expand its war on Gaza to Lebanon with the “alarming” wave of deadly explosions that swept through Hezbollah strongholds.

“The escalation in the region is alarming,” Caliber.Az quotes Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as saying.

“We see Israel mounting its attacks towards Lebanon step by step. We have come to a point where these operations carried out by Israel have become increasingly provocative, and in return, Iran, Hezbollah, and elements close to them have no choice but to respond,” Fidan said.

According to him, currently, the fanatic government in Israel is pursuing a strategy to eliminate all threats.

“Does Israel want permanent peace or does it want to eliminate everything it sees as a threat by using classical war methods?” Fidan stressed.

On September 18, a series of explosions in Lebanon resulted in at least 20 fatalities and 450 injuries. The blasts, attributed to wireless devices, affected the southern regions, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Beirut. Among the deceased were ten confirmed members of Hezbollah.

In response to the explosions, security personnel at Beirut's Rafiq Hariri International Airport had their walkie-talkies confiscated. This new wave of attacks comes just a day after a series of explosions on September 17, which left 12 civilians dead and over 2,800 injured.
