Two passenger jets damaged by airport workers in Russia

11 September 2026 09:51

A ground-service worker damaged an iFly Airbus A330 carrying hundreds of passengers shortly after it arrived at Vladivostok airport from Moscow, Russian media outlet SHOT reported on Friday, September 11.

The aircraft had 374 passengers and 13 crew members on board when ground-service workers approached it after it stopped near the terminal. As employees opened the aircraft's baggage compartment door, one worker was moving a specialized access ladder and struck the fuselage with it.

The aircraft sustained damage near the right landing-gear strut, with airport employees discovering a hole during an inspection.

A second aircraft was damaged at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg after a specialised vehicle collided with a Nordwind Boeing 737-800.

The vehicle was reversing when its driver failed to notice the Boeing and crashed into the aircraft, leaving a dent in its fuselage.
