Iran says it struck US drone in Strait of Hormuz VIDEO

Iranian forces struck a Saildrone reconnaissance drone near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Sardar Azmai, has said.

The drone, identified by the number 5838, was targeted while carrying out what Azmai described as an “aggressive mission”, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

He said the strike had disrupted the drone’s mission and claimed that the Strait of Hormuz was closed and under Iranian control.

The IRGC repeated that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and under its control, warning that "any hostile presence in the strategic waterway will be targeted."

The IRGC Navy said September 8 that it had seized a US Army Dive-LD unmanned submarine, describing it as one of the military’s most advanced and “smart” underwater drones, near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military later said one of its underwater drones had “malfunctioned” while surveying regional waters, but did not confirm whether Iran had seized the device.
