Kazakhstan's Navy begins exercises in Caspian Sea PHOTO

Scheduled exercises by Kazakhstan’s Naval Forces have begun in the country’s sector of the Caspian Sea, the Defence Ministry said.

The crews will sail across the Kazakh sector and practise coordination between ships, navigation, communications, vessel handling and weapons use, as well as conduct live-fire exercises, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

The drills will be held in three stages, with particular attention to operations at a considerable distance from the shore, the ministry said.

First-Rank Captain Arman Satkanov, deputy commander-in-chief of the Naval Forces for combat training, said the main objective was to improve the crews’ practical skills and coordination.

The tasks will become more complex as the exercises progress, with additional units also joining the drills.
