Russia’s Saratov oil refinery catches fire overnight after drone threat PHOTO

A fire has been reported at the Saratov Oil Refinery, according to an OSINT analysis by ASTRA.

A fire broke out at the oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov Region overnight on September 11. At around 2 a.m., the regional governor announced a drone threat in the area.

“Information about a UAV threat has been received from the Defence Ministry. Warning systems may operate locally in areas where a threat is possible. All emergency services have been placed on full alert,” Governor Roman Busargin wrote.

An ASTRA OSINT expert identified the facility on fire as the Saratov Oil Refinery. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The refinery has previously come under attack at least 16 times.

The Saratov Oil Refinery (PJSC Saratov Oil Refinery) is one of Russia’s oldest oil-refining enterprises. Founded in 1934, it has been part of Rosneft since 2013.
