Moscow criticises European Parliament's call for arrest warrant against Venezuelan president
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has condemned the European Parliament's recent call for an arrest warrant for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
In her Telegram channel, Zakharova described the move as an example of "bizarre madness," Caliber.Az reports.
Zakharova accused the European Parliament of becoming "a manifestation of collective unconsciousness with signs of wild insanity," adding that the Parliament seems obsessed with targeting individuals who are not aligned with the European Union's interests.
She also criticised the EU for its indifference towards the investigation of the sabotage on the Nord Stream pipelines, which fall under the responsibility of the member states.
Earlier, the European Parliament had urged the EU to seek an arrest warrant for Maduro and to recognize opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia as the head of state. The legislative body also insisted on taking all possible measures to ensure González Urrutia's assumption of office by January 10, 2025.
