Putin invites Indian PM to Russia for 24th annual summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the countries’ strategic partnership, with Putin inviting Modi to Russia for the 24th annual bilateral summit. 

The 45-minute meeting focused on bilateral cooperation across key areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

During the talks, Modi presented Putin with a Russian-language edition of the ancient Indian treatise Tirukkural. The Indian prime minister said the work, which explores morality, compassion and governance, could contribute to strengthening humanitarian ties between Russia and India.

Putin also invited Modi to visit Russia for the 24th annual Russian-Indian summit. Modi accepted the invitation and confirmed his intention to visit Russia.

The dates for the summit will be agreed through diplomatic channels, taking into account the convenience of both sides.

Putin arrived in India for a three-day working visit to participate in events related to the 18th BRICS Summit.
