Iran demands immediate withdrawal of US troops from Syria
Iran's most senior diplomat at the United Nations has issued a fresh call for the total exit of US and Israeli forces from Syria as conflict continued to rage on several fronts across the Middle East, setting the stage for a potential broader regional war.
The statement was issued on June 25 by Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, as he addressed the UN Security Council meeting on the humanitarian and political situation in Syria, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"The total, immediate, and unconditional withdrawal of US troops from Syria is essential for peace and stability in the region. Rather than combating terrorism, they continue to steal oil, rob the Syrian people, and support groups recognized as terrorists by the UN, such as Jabhat al-Nusra and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham," Iravani stated.
