Uzbekistan, Jordan launch new era of cooperation with multi-sector deals
In a significant diplomatic development, Uzbekistan and Jordan have formalized their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation by signing 15 key agreements following King Abdullah II’s visit to Samarkand.
The announcements were made by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, Caliber.Az reports.
During the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan adopted a comprehensive Joint Statement aimed at strengthening their strategic partnership across multiple sectors.
The signed agreements cover a broad spectrum of collaboration, including pivotal arrangements on extradition, mutual promotion and protection of investments, and the establishment of a bilateral joint commission to oversee ongoing cooperation. Both countries also agreed on the removal of visa requirements, facilitating greater mobility and exchange between their citizens.
Further agreements address enhanced cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and tourism, reflecting a shared interest in fostering people-to-people connections and knowledge exchange. Protocols on air communication and the online exchange of information regarding the movement of goods were also formalized, signaling a commitment to streamline trade and logistics channels.
In addition, Uzbekistan and Jordan have expanded their collaboration to key agricultural sectors through agreements on plant protection and quarantine, veterinary services, and agricultural development.
To ensure effective implementation, both parties approved a detailed plan of practical measures aimed at translating the agreements into tangible outcomes.
