Iran's FM proposes investigating attacks jointly with regional countries
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the country continues to maintain diplomatic channels with Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and other neighbouring states.
“Diplomatic contacts with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and neighbouring countries are ongoing,” the foreign minister told Al Araby Al Jadeed.
Araghchi added that Tehran is ready to establish a joint commission with regional countries to investigate incidents related to attacks on various facilities.
Araghchi's statement comes amid the ongoing US/Israel–Iran war that erupted on February 28, 2026, following joint strikes on Iranian territory. Since then, Iran retaliated by launching hundreds of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones at US military bases and assets located in neighbouring Gulf countries (primarily the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and others).
Araghchi has repeatedly framed these as strikes not against the Gulf states themselves, but against "American targets, bases, installations, and assets" hosted on their soil. He describes any resulting damage to Gulf territory or civilians as "collateral" or unintended.
