Iran has revealed its latest addition to its military arsenal, the Gaza Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).

The Gaza UAV boasts significant advancements, showcasing its prowess in combat and reconnaissance operations, Caliber.Az reports citing Iranian media.

The Gaza UAV, an upgraded iteration of the Shahed 129, marks a significant step forward in Iran's drone technology. The modernized version is a wide-body, super-heavy drone that bears the symbolic name Gaza.

Equipped with a turbojet engine, it can carry up to 13 bombs, enhancing its striking capabilities. This new UAV has an impressive range of 2,000 kilometres and can soar to altitudes of up to 10 kilometres, making it a formidable asset in Iran's defence strategy.

Notably, the Gaza UAV's design draws comparisons to Israel's Hermes 450 UAV, albeit slightly larger in size. Iranian sources estimate its endurance to be approximately 35 hours, allowing for prolonged missions. Its versatility enables it to target both mobile and stationary objectives, underscoring its value in various operational scenarios.

One of the most significant features of the Gaza UAV is its capacity to carry Sadid-1 anti-tank guided missiles, indicating its potential to deliver precise strikes against high-value targets. This capability positions it as Iran's second UAV with such missile capabilities, following the Karrar UAV.

Moreover, the Gaza UAV represents a cost-effective alternative to major U.S. drones like the MQ-9 Reaper, offering comparable performance at a fraction of the cost. While exact specifications remain undisclosed, experts speculate that the Gaza UAV is equipped with advanced guidance and communication systems, enabling seamless integration into Iran's military infrastructure.
