Iranian deputy speaker calls US standoff a “full-scale war of wills”
A senior Iranian lawmaker has described the confrontation between Tehran and Washington as a “full-scale war”, despite the absence of direct military engagement.
Hamidreza Haji Babaei, a deputy speaker in Iran’s parliament, said the long-running tensions between the two countries amount to an active conflict conducted through non-military means, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“This is a full-scale war between the Islamic Republic and the United States, even if artillery and missiles are not active,” Hamidreza Haji Babaei said on Thursday.
He characterised the standoff as one driven by information and psychological pressure, arguing that its impact could exceed that of conventional warfare.
Haji Babaei described the situation as a “war of wills and media,” adding it could be more difficult than bombardment because “the enemy has deployed all its capacity to exhaust people and create division in society.”
