Iraq extends no-fly zone amid regional tensions
Iraqi aviation authorities have extended the ban on flights over the country for an additional three days, a source in Baghdad’s Flight Information Region told TASS.
“The airspace will remain closed at least until 09:00 UTC (13:00 Baku time) on Saturday, March 28,” the source said, adding that the skies over Iraq were initially closed on February 28 following U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran.
Flights by state, military, medical, or search-and-rescue aircraft may be allowed with special permission from the civil aviation authority.
Meanwhile, Iran has also extended its airspace closure until 08:30 UTC (12:30 Baku time) on Sunday, March 29, affecting regional aviation operations.
The ongoing restrictions highlight escalating tensions in the Middle East and their impact on civilian air traffic across the region.
