Israel, Lebanon to hold talks in Washington as fragile ceasefire holds
Representatives of Israel and Lebanon are set to meet in Washington on April 23 for a second round of diplomatic negotiations, as the ceasefire intended to halt hostilities between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group has mainly remained in place.
However, the truce was reportedly violated several times, according to statements from both sides, Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN.
The sides agreed on a ceasefire on April 16, following an order issued by US President Donald Trump.
According to him, he had excellent conversations with the Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST,” he noted.
