Israel releases summary data on progress of war against Hezbollah While Islamic Resistance vows to continue fight despite ceasefire
Israel has published a summary of its military activities in the ongoing war against Hezbollah, which began on October 8, 2023.
The Israeli military press service provided details on key operations and statistics related to the conflict, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the report, over 1,600 Hezbollah headquarters and more than 1,000 Hezbollah warehouses have been targeted and attacked. In addition, Israeli forces have destroyed or seized over 155,000 pieces of weaponry and special equipment, including missiles, launchers, mines, shells, drones, computers, and communication devices.
The Israeli Air Force has logged a total of 14,000 hours and completed 11,000 combat sorties during the course of the war, while the Navy has spent 25,000 hours operating on the Lebanese front.
As of November 28, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that 176 senior Hezbollah leaders had been killed, approximately 3,500 militants eliminated, and around 7,000 incapacitated.
The hostilities between the Israeli military and Hezbollah came to a halt on November 27, following a ceasefire agreement. The truce stipulates that the Lebanese army will regain control of the border areas with Israel, while Hezbollah forces are required to retreat approximately 40 kilometres from the Israeli-Lebanese border.
Andre Tenenti, spokesman for the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, confirmed that peacekeepers will remain in the area and continue to support the Lebanese military’s deployment to the border in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1701. Their mission is to stabilize the situation and ensure security.
In response to the ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement on Israel’s Channel 14 television, emphasizing that the IDF must be prepared for a “full-scale war” in the event of a breakdown of the truce. He said, "I ordered the IDF to prepare for a full-scale war in Lebanon if the truce is violated. If the ceasefire agreement is breached, we will move to full-scale war."
Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has pledged to continue its opposition to Israel. A source within the group stated that they are not bound by the Lebanon ceasefire agreement and will continue supporting the Palestinian cause, especially in Gaza, by attacking what they referred to as the "Zionist entity." This decision was reportedly made during the group's leadership meeting.
