Belgium to build military data centres with over €900 million investment
Belgium plans to invest €965 million in the construction of military data centres by 2029, according to a defence ministry plan obtained by L'Echo.
The facilities, scheduled for development between 2025 and 2029, are expected to play a “critical role in military operations,” processing real-time data from satellites, drones, and combat units.
A source within the Ministry of Defence also confirmed that the centres will be used to store and securely process information from government agencies.
The government intends to locate the data centres across multiple secure sites nationwide, ensuring that if one facility fails, another can take over its functions.
Additional funding will be allocated to protect the centres against cyberattacks.
