Israeli finance minister demands British envoy be expelled "tonight"

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has called for the British ambassador to Israel to be expelled immediately.

The call follows reports that the UK is preparing sanctions targeting Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

According to The Guardian, British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband is due to introduce a ban on trade in goods and certain services from the settlements on September 8.

Responding to the reports on X, Smotrich accused the British government of attacking Israel and Jews, and said: “The British Mandate in Israel is over.”
