Saudi Arabia vows to defend its interests without hesitation
Saudi Arabia will not hesitate to defend its interests and will continue working to promote regional stability and security, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud told reporters following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
He noted that Saudi Arabia is not speaking of “closing the diplomatic track” and continues to support diplomatic solutions to regional challenges.
Commenting on the situation involving the Houthis, bin Farhan said the group is seeking to shift its internal conflicts onto Yemen’s legitimate government. “The Houthis have their own problems, their own internal pressure, and they are trying to export, transfer and shift these conflicts onto the legitimate government,” he stressed.
The minister added that provoking the Yemeni government and the international community had become a habitual practice for the Houthis, describing it as selfish behaviour that could expose the group to unexpected consequences.
“But we will not hesitate in self-defence, in defending our own interests, and we will ensure our conditions, we will ensure our objectives, we will advise Yemen on how to secure its interests, we will work in the interests of regional stability and security, and we will use all the means available to us to fulfil what we have to do,” the Saudi FM said.
