Helicopter crashes near airport in Malaysia’s Sarawak state
A BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, crashed near Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) Airport in Malaysia’s Sarawak state on September 8, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
The airport is located about 929 kilometres north of Kuching, the state capital, Malaysian media reports.
CAAM said it was notified of the incident by the Flight Information Service at 3:58 p.m. local time. The helicopter was operating a Flying Doctor Service flight with five people on board.
The aviation authority did not provide information on casualties.
Malaysia’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under the Transport Ministry, will investigate the crash in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
