Zelenskyy reveals silence with former Defence Minister Fedorov

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he has had little contact with Mykhailo Fedorov since the former defence minister left office, UNIAN reports.

“Honestly, I haven’t seen or heard from him for a long time. I know he was somewhere abroad. As they say, he doesn’t call or write,” Zelenskyy said when asked about his relationship with Fedorov.

The president did not give a reason for the lack of contact between them.

Fedorov rose to prominence as part of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s team during the 2019 presidential campaign. After Zelenskyy’s election, Fedorov became Ukraine’s first Minister of Digital Transformation, overseeing the development of digital government services, including the Diia app.

His career later shifted to defence. In January 2026, parliament approved his appointment as Defence Minister, with 277 MPs voting in favour. During his tenure, he pursued technology-driven reforms and changes to military service contracts.

Fedorov was dismissed in July 2026 after about six months in office, ending his tenure as defence minister.
