Czech police evacuate 240 people from hospital over bomb threat

08 September 2026 14:49

Czech police evacuated around 240 people, including newborns, from a hospital in Kadaň on September 8 following an anonymous bomb threat.

The hospital received the bomb threat in the morning, prompting the evacuation of staff and pediatric patients, including newborns, to a nearby emergency care facility, Caliber.Az reports via Czech media.

Adult patients remained at the hospital alongside essential medical personnel, the facility’s executive director, Pavel Marek, said. A police dog handler, rescue workers and a psychologist were dispatched to the scene, while firefighters set up evacuation tents outside the hospital.

Law enforcement officers searched the building several times after receiving the bomb threat but found no explosive device.

Meanwhile, police are searching for the anonymous caller who reported the alleged bomb. The case is being investigated on suspicion of spreading false information.
