Germany arrests suspect over attacks on power substations

German police have arrested a man suspected of organising a series of incidents near electricity infrastructure, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

The suspect, identified as Daniel V., was detained during a traffic check near Weisweiler, security sources told the newspaper.

Police reportedly began investigating him after two handwritten letters claiming responsibility were sent to the FAZ and other media outlets last week. Daniel V. was named as the sender.

The letters contained information that was not publicly known at the time, including technical details about sabotage at a power substation in Brandenburg.

Media reports about the equipment used in the incident emerged only late in the evening, when the letter was believed to have already been sent.
