Former German government flagship jet seeks new owner in US

A former German government aircraft once used by Chancellor Angela Merkel has been put up for sale in the United States, Welt reports.

The aircraft, Theodor Heuss, is an Airbus A340-300 manufactured in 2000 and bearing serial number 355.

For years, the jet served as one of the flagship aircraft in Germany’s government fleet, carrying Merkel on international trips as well as ministers and other state guests.

According to the aircraft’s sales documents, the A340-300 has accumulated more than 50,700 flight hours and 8,768 landings over its service life.

The aircraft is currently parked in the United States, where aircraft dealer Jetcraft is seeking a buyer. The company has also advertised the plane on its Instagram page.

The asking price has not been disclosed.
