Bosnia and Herzegovina expels Serbian attaché, intelligence official

08 September 2026 18:22

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković has decided to expel Serbia’s military attaché and an official representative of the Serbian intelligence service from the country following the presence of Serbian officials at the funeral of former commander of the Bosnian Serb Army, General Ratko Mladić.

The minister said Milan Dulanović, military attaché at the Serbian Embassy, and Danko Maksimović, a representative of Serbia’s Security Intelligence Agency, were declared persona non grata, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“They have 48 hours to leave Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he noted.

Earlier, Konaković had expressed dissatisfaction over the presence of Serbian officials at Ratko Mladić’s funeral.

Mladić died in a UN prison in The Hague on August 27. His body was transported to Belgrade on September 3.

Mladić’s son, Darko, later claimed that his father was effectively killed while in detention in The Hague due to inadequate medical treatment and the use of powerful medications.

Mladić’s funeral was held in Belgrade on September 7 in the presence of tens of thousands of people. Serbian Patriarch Porfirije conducted the funeral service.
