Indonesia to airlift 800 tons of humanitarian aid to Palestine
The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas) is sending 800 tons of humanitarian aid to Palestine, where civilians are facing an acute crisis due to Israeli attacks and aid blockades.
“We have prepared 800 tons of aid that will be airdropped by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in cooperation with the air forces of Jordan and Egypt,” Baznas head Noor Achmad said at a press conference on August 13, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The first 80 tons are scheduled for delivery on August 17, 2025, coinciding with Indonesia’s 80th independence anniversary. The remainder will be sent in stages.
Achmad said the mission is being carried out under the direct instruction of President Prabowo Subianto, who has been lobbying external parties to secure safe delivery.
“Entering Palestinian territory is very difficult. Nevertheless, with the President’s directive and facilitation, this aid can be distributed,” he noted.
The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has devised a special plan for airdrops, addressing earlier concerns over the method.
On the morning of August 13, a TNI AU Hercules aircraft departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta carrying the first shipment, which includes instant noodles, cheese, tuna, biscuits, packaged juice, butter, canned foods, and ketchup.
The Baznas head thanked all parties involved, including the Indonesian embassies in Egypt and Jordan, and Baznas’ partners in both countries.
