Houthis announce missile operation halting Israel's Ben Gurion airport activity
Houthi rebels from Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement have reported a new missile strike targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. The announcement was made on the Telegram channel of Yahya Saree, a representative of the Houthis' armed forces, according to the group-affiliated Al Masirah channel.
Saree stated: “The missile forces of the Yemeni armed forces carried out an operation in which they attacked Lod (Ben Gurion) Airport in Jaffa (Tel Aviv) with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile. The objective of the operation was achieved.”
According to the statement, the airport’s operations were suspended.
The Ansar Allah movement also noted that it continues to closely monitor developments in the Gaza Strip and reiterated its stance against any occupation by Israeli forces. The rebels affirmed their commitment to supporting the Palestinian people “until the aggression” launched by Israel against Gaza residents comes to an end.
Earlier, the Israeli army’s press service confirmed the interception of a missile launched from Yemen.
The Houthis’ warning of attacks on Israeli territory and shipping in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait dates back to the escalation of the Gaza conflict in 2023.
Following that conflict, the Houthis declared their intent to strike Israel and prevent Israeli ships from traversing critical maritime routes.
While the attacks were temporarily halted under a ceasefire imposed in mid-January 2025, the truce broke down in early March. Since then, the Houthis resumed missile strikes on Israeli ships in the Red Sea and have attempted further attacks on targets within Israel itself.
