US Secret Service aware of Iranian video threat against Barron Trump

The US Secret Service says it is aware of an Iranian state television video discussing a potential plot to assassinate Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump.

The three-minute broadcast alleged that the 20-year-old was being monitored and claimed that a $10 million bounty had been offered for his killing, Caliber.Az reports, citing British media.

Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring said the agency investigates anything that could be perceived as a threat against people under its protection.

"Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence," he said.

The video comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran during the nearly six-month-old war involving the US and Israel.

Reuters has previously reported that the US received several warnings from Israel over the past year that Iran intended to assassinate President Trump, including before a secret Air Force One flight to Türkiye.

Trump has previously described himself as "number one on the kill list for Iran".
