CNN: US Secret Service suspends three employees

Three US Secret Service employees have been placed on leave pending an internal investigation into possible misconduct, CNN reports, citing a source. According to the network, one of those suspended is Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

The employees have reportedly had their security clearances suspended and access to their work devices blocked. The investigation is being conducted by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). The nature of the alleged misconduct has not been disclosed.

The Secret Service confirmed that employees had been placed on leave but declined to identify them or provide details about the investigation. CNN noted that Guglielmi and his subordinates are not law enforcement officers.

According to CNN, Secret Service personnel were previously questioned as part of an investigation into the disclosure of information about a covert operation to evacuate President Donald Trump from Türkiye.

Earlier this summer, a Secret Service agent assigned to protect Vice President JD Vance was also placed on leave over allegations that information about the vice president’s travel routes had been leaked.
