Israel's call to exclude Türkiye from NATO unlikely to gain support - FM
Israel has called for the exclusion of Türkiye from NATO, but it is unlikely that this proposal will gain support.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is confident that the country's membership in the alliance cannot be questioned, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
On July 28, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan stated that Türkiye could "enter Israel" just as it once entered Libya. In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz called for Türkiye, one of the oldest members of the alliance, to be excluded from NATO.
"Nothing will come out of this [the Israeli foreign minister's call]. Türkiye's membership in NATO cannot be questioned in such an equation. Moreover, Türkiye is not the only country whose views on the Palestinian issue do not align with the West. Other countries take a stance against Israel, but the tone of their voices may be different. In the context of recognizing the State of Palestine, Spain, Ireland, and Norway have officially voiced their position," Fidan stated.
